Alberto Hold-Garrido was born in Barcelona,Spain and moved to Denmark at age 9. After initial private studies in piano, violin, harmony and counterpoint, he entered the Royal Music Academy in Copenhagen studing choral and orchestral conducting with Dan-Olof Stenlund and Frans Rasmussen, later completing his conducting studies at the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Helsinki under Prof. Jorma Panula, Atso Almila, Prof.Ilya Musin and guest teachers such as Leif Segerstam, Eri Klas, János Fürst and Wolf-Dieter Hauschild. Between 1990-91 he also attended courses of musical phenomenology with S.Celibidache at the Gutenberg University in Mainz.
