Biography
The British conductor Alexander Soddy has been General Music Director of the National Theater Mannheim since the 2016/17 season and has conducted the house’s premieres of Aida, Genoveva, Fidelio, Don Giovanni, The Mastersingers of Nuremberg and Pelléas et Mélisande, as well as numerous revivals including Hansel and Gretel, Madama Butterfly, Elektra, Der Rosenkavalier, Tannhäuser, Lohengrin and Parsifal. In the 2020/21 season he will be presenting premieres of Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer and Berg’s Wozzeck. He also regularly performs at the Bavarian and Berlin State Operas, where he returns this season with The Magic Flute and Der Freischütz.
