Born in Messina, he began his musical studies in his hometown at the conservatory Arcangelo Corelli under the guidance of Antonio Bevacqua. After winning the first prize at the International Competition Giuseppe di Stefano of Trapani, in 1996 he made his debut as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at Teatro Politeama in Lecce and as Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore in Pistoia, with unanimous consent by audience and critics. He started a successful career performing in some of the most important international theatres, including Teatro alla Scala, Metropolitan New York, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, Staatsoper and Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper of Munich, Teatro Real de Madrid, Liceu de Barcelona, New National Theatre of Tokyo, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia di Rom
