Hailed by the Washington Post for her “bright, luminous mezzo-soprano of vast power and potential,” Cynthia Hanna joins Hawaii Opera Theater as Maddalena in Rigoletto and sings Bach’s Magnificat and Handel’s Utrecht Jubilate as a guest artist the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Last season, she returned to Utah Symphony for Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and sang her first performances of Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with the Seattle Youth Symphony in the 2014-15 season. She also joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera for the first time for the company’s new production of Iolanta and in the summer, was a Resident Artist at Santa Fe Opera, responsible for roles in Salome and Rigoletto.
