Biography
Austrian baritone Daniel Schmutzhard has acquired a wide-ranging repertoire both in the operatic and the concert repertoire in the last few years. The 2020/21 season will also be marked by two important role debuts: with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra the baritone will sing Kurwenal for the first time in concert performances of Tristan and later in the season he will make his debut as Gunther in semi-staged performances of Götterdämmerung with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra . As Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, one of his signatiure roles, he makes his debut at the New National Theater Tokyo. The Frankfurt Opera presents the artist in a double role in Janacek’s From a House of the Dead. The Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne has engaged the baritone to perform Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
