Biography
Praised by "Opernglas" for her "kräftig-deutlicher Intonation und warmer, dunkler Stimme" (strong-clear intonation and a warm-dark voice) the Israeli singer Edna Prochnik established herself as a very fine interpreter of the german repertory. After the exclusive invitation of maestro Dan Ettinger she became a member of the Nationaltheater Mannheim in the season 2009/10 where she since sang very succesfully all the main mezzo roles in Wagners Ring - Fricka, Waltraute, Norn, Erda, Schwertleite - in the acclaimed direction of Achim Freyer, which was captured on DVD by Arthaus Musik. This season Edna gave her debut as Kundry and continued singing her widely acclaimed two favourite roles: Klytämnestra (Elektra) and Herodias (Salome).
