Besides well over 100 appearances in Mozart's The Magic Flute, domestic and international and from Papageno over Sprecher, Priester and Geharnischter to Sarastro, the most sang role of the German bass baritone Frank Blees is the title role in Wagner's The Flying Dutchman, at last from 2013 to 2015 as a guest at the National Theatre Brno. In this year he did again Filippo II in the new production of Verdi's Don Carlo at Landesbühnen Sachsen and gave his debut as Van Bett in Lortzing's Zar und Zimmermann at Landestheater Detmold.
