Gabriela Scherer was raised in Zurich and studied with Prof. Horiana Branisteanu at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and completed her studies attending the Opera Studio Zurich in 2006/07 and masterclasses with Angelika Kirchschlager, Francisco Araiza and Barbara Fink. The season 2020/21 brings two very exciting role debuts for Gabriela Scherer: with the Oper Leipzig, the soprano sings her very first Elsa in Wagner’s Lohengrin, the new production is under the direction of the composer’s grand granddaughter and Bayreuth Festival leader Katharina Wagner. Her second role debut of this season shows the total opposite of lovely and angelic Elsa: the fiery and evil Lady Macbeth in Verdi’s Macbeth, in a new production with the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
