George Humphreys was educated at St. John’s College, Cambridge, the Royal Academy of Music and the International Opernstudio Zürich. An Austrian resident, he is currently a member of the ensemble at the Salzburger Landestheater, where his recent Operatic appearances include Valentin in Faust, Lescaut in Manon, and all the major Mozart baritone roles. Highlights elsewhere include the title role in Eugene Onegin at the Buxton International Festival, Leporello with the Nederlandse Reisopera, and Demetrius in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Aldeburgh Festival. George is a passionate supporter of Contemporary Music. As a student, he worked closely with Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and has subsequently given premieres of works by composers such as Alexander Goehr, Iain Bell and Salvatore
