Italo Grassi was born in Reggio Emilia (Italy). He graduated in scenography with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna at the school of Enrico Manelli. From 1987 to 2000 he worked at the tecnical Direction of the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, holding the position of Director starting from 1993, when his maestro Paolo Bassi retired. During these years he made his debut in opera and ballet as a set designer and costume designer. Since then he has signed more than 100 productions collaborating with many international directors, choreographers and theaters. From 2008 to 2013 he was Tecnical Director for the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. In recent years there have been many important shows in the best international theaters.
