Biography
Austrian born Baritone Johannes Beck performed a wide repertory throughout Europe. He was a member of Opera Cologne and the State Theater in Munich. He studied in Austria and at Julliard School New York and was a member of the opera studios at Opera Zurich and the Bavarian State opera, Munich. Important roles for the season 2016/17 are Rigoletto, Holländer and Mazeppa. With Opera Leipzig he performed Orffs Carmina Burana, at the Edinburgh festival he sang Olivier in Capriccio. Other important roles are Marcello, Faninal, Sprecher, Heerrufer and Boris in Lady Macbeth of Mzensk. He sang in Brittens War Requiem at Westminster Cathedral in London and Haydns Creation at Haydn festival in Austria. He can be heard in the CD opera recording of "Rübezahl" by Hans Sommer.
