Martin Berner

Martin Berner took his studies at the academies of music in Hamburg(Prof. W. Löser) and Mannheim (Prof. Rudolf Piernay). The young Baritone, who received his first musical education in early years in a boys-choir, Neuer Knabenchor Hamburg, earned an award at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang/ Federal competition for singing in Berlin, and another at the Internationaler Bachwettbewerb Leipzig / International Bach-competition Leipzig. He received scholarships from the Richard-Wagner-Verband, the Inernational Bach-Academy Stuttgart and the Steans Institute for Young Artists in Chicago. After his first engagement at the Stadttheater Aachen he accepted a change to the Stadtheater Nürnberg. There he made his debuts i. a. as Don Giovanni, Guglielmo, Guillaume Tell and Kurwenal.
