Biography
Mona Somm was born in Switzerland. After studies in Lucerne and Zurich she entered the Manhattan School of Music, New York City, in the class of Mignon Dunn. Eva Krasznai-Gombos in Basel, Switzerland, has been her most important teacher for more than ten years. Istvan Krasznai, Jeannine Reiss and Sharolyn Kimmorley have also been big inspirations and coaches. She interpreted her first role in the dramatic Soprano repertoire 2009. It was nothing less than the expressive role “Electra” from Richard Strauss’s Opera “ELECTRA” at the Tiroler Festspiele in Erl, Austria. Shortly after, in a Spanish Tour with the Tschech Opera Prag, she gave her debut as “Senta” from Wagner’s “FLYING DUTCHMAN” followed by the part of “Ortlinde” in Wagner’s “VALKYRIE” in Frankfurt am Main under the direction of Se
