Raphael Wittmer received his first musical training with the Lucerne Boys' Choir, and on the cello at the Lucerne School of Music. He studied singing at The Basel Academy of Music and The Cologne University of Music, and was awarded scholarships by the Friedl Wald Foundation and the Marianne and Curt Dienemann Foundation. After his studies, Raphael Wittmer was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Cologne Opera, and an ensemble member at the Plauen-Zwickau Theater from 2012 to 2014. Here he made his debut as Ferrando in "Così fan tutte", Conte Almaviva in "Barbiere di Siviglia" and Walther von der Vogelweide in "Tannhäuser", among other roles.
