Austrian stage director Valentin Schwarz studied opera directing in Vienna. In the 2017 "RingAward-Competition for Stage Directing" he won the first prize and several special prices, including the audience award, for his concept of Don Pasquale. He completed his artistic education as an assistant director in German opera houses for Jossi Wieler, Armin Petras and Kirill Serebrennikov among others. During his studies he staged works of Debussy and Lehár, Carmen and Bluebeard’s Castle in Weimar. Future plans include Così fan tutte in Vienna and productions in Köln, Graz, Karlsruhe, Cottbus, Darmstadt and Montpellier.
