Innsbruck, AustriaBorn in Italy, Valerio Contaldo grows in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. After studying classical guitar he studies singing with Gary Magby at the Lausanne Conservatory. He follows lessons of Giorgio Paronuzzi (baroque coaching), Anthony di Giantomasso (diction), Todd Camburn, Marie-Cécile Bertheau (coaching). He attends masterclasses of Christa Ludwig, Alain Garichot, Klesie Kelly and David Jones. He is awarded Laureate of Foundations Madeleine Dubuis and Solidarvox of Sion and of Colette Mosetti in Lausanne. He is finalist of the Leipzig Bach Competition in 2008. Recent operatic engagements include: Raoul de St. Brioche in The Merry Widow at the Nancy Opera, Corèbe/Eolo in Cavalli’s La Didone with Les Arts Florissants in Caen, Luxembourg and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, ten
