Biography
The bass-baritone Georg Festl is part of the soloists ensemble at the Staatstheater Darmstadt. In 2018/19, he made his critically acclaimed debut as "Saint François d’Assise" in Messiaen‘s sole opera. For the interpretation of this role, the magazine "Opernwelt" nominated him to be one of the most promising young opera singers of his generation, "operanow" wrote he is "destined for stardom" and the daily newspaper "Darmstädter Echo" awarded him with the title "best singer of the year". He sang roles such as "Papageno/Sprecher" in "Die Zauberflöte", "Figaro" in "Le nozze di Figaro", "Leporello" in Don Giovanni, "Golaud" in "Pelleas et Melisande", "Frank" in "Die Fledermaus", "Heerrufer" in Lohengrin and "Schaunard" in La Boheme. The bass-baritone has also sung at the Helsinki National Opera
