Biography
Young lyric soprano Pelageya Kurennaya was born in the Cossack village of Mityakinskaya in Rostov region in southern Russia. In 2007, the 16 years old Pelageya entered the Ippolitov-Ivanov Music College in Moscow and four years later continued her musical studies at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatoire in St. Petersburg. In summer 2016 she graduated from the Conservatory, where she had studied in the class of Professor Tamara Novichenko, the former teacher of Anna Netrebko. She has participated in master classes by Elena Obraztsova, Vladimir Chernov and Diane Zola as well as in the Los Angeles Opera’s Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program.
