Beethoven's solo concerto is not a typical virtuoso piece, but rather symphonic. Only late in the introduction does the solo part come in, in order to subsequently play music together with the orchestra on an equal footing. Nevertheless, after an unsuccessful premiere in 1806, it was considered unplayable for a long time because of the high technical requirements. Today it is part of the absolute core repertoire.

In addition to his opera The Bartered Bride, Bedřich Smetana became known for his symphonic cycle My Fatherland , which premiered in 1882. Above all, the Vltava contained in it became extremely popular, but the other impressive sound paintings from Czech nature and history also unfold a magical, luminous power.

Beethovens Solokonzert ist kein typisches Virtuosenstück, sondern eher sinfonisch angelegt. Erst spät in der Einleitung setzt der Solopart ein, um in der Folge in einem gleichberechtigten Miteinander mit dem Orchester zu musizieren. Dennoch galt es nach einer wenig erfolgreichen Uraufführung 1806 lange Zeit wegen der hohen technischen Anforderungen als unspielbar. Heute gehört es zum absoluten Kernrepertoire.

Bedřich Smetana ist neben seiner Oper Die verkaufte Braut durch den 1882 uraufgeführten sinfonischen Zyklus Mein Vaterland bekannt geworden. Vor allem die darin enthaltene Moldau wurde außerordentlich populär, doch auch die anderen eindrucksvollen Klanggemälde aus der tschechischen Natur und Geschichte entfalten eine magisch leuchtende Kraft.
