It would seem that the first thought that should come to mind of a director who takes on the production of Aida is to try to do everything the way Verdi wrote. However, this is exactly what no one does for some reason. We used to think that "Aida" is a large-scale spectacle with spectacular scenery and costumes, marching extras, preferably even with elephants on stage. And all the time - forte, forte, forte! But if we open the score, we will see a completely different picture. More than half of the opera is piano and pianissimo.

Казалось бы, первая мысль, которая должна прийти в голову режиссера, берущегося за постановку «Аиды» – попробовать сделать все так, как написал Верди. Тем не менее, именно этого никто почему-то не делает. Мы привыкли думать, что «Аида» – это масштабное зрелище с эффектными декорациями и костюмами, марширующими статистами, желательно даже со слонами на сцене. И все время – forte, forte, forte! Но если мы откроем партитуру, то увидим совсем другую картину. Больше половины оперы – это piano и pianissimo.
