In the summer of 2023, Gars Castle will be transformed into the famous Egyptian temple on the Nile in the time of the pharaohs .Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida" combines the sensitive drama of four individual fates in times of war with opera culture in its most monumental form in a breathtaking way. Im Sommer 2023 verwandelt sich die Burg Gars in den berühmten ägyptischen Tempel am Nil zur Zeit der Pharaonen. Giuseppe Verdis „Aida“ vereint auf atemberaubende Weise das feinfühlige Drama um vier Einzelschicksale in Zeiten des Krieges mit Opernkultur in ihrer monumentalsten Form. Abendländische und morgenländische Sehnsüchte nach Exotik treffen in diesem Werk ebenso aufeinander wie musikalisch prunkvolle Zeremonielle und majestätische Chorszenen mit intimen Momenten voll großer Gefühlskonflikte. Im Zentrum der als Auftragswerk des ägyptischen Vizekönigs Ismael Pascha zur feierlichen Eröffnung des Suezkanals entstandenen Oper steht die tragische Liebe der äthiopischen Prinzessin Aida und des ägyptischen Heerführers Radamès – eine Verbindung, die durch den Krieg ihrer beiden Völker unmöglich gemacht wird. Mit seinem höchst berührenden Schlussplädoyer für die utopische Kraft der Liebe setzt Verdi ein besonderes Ausrufezeichen, dessen Symbolik zeitlos ist.
