Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny is a theatrical musical work, born from the collaboration between Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. The story of a city where everything is allowed thanks to money, in the vision of the authors is an opportunity to denounce the degeneration of the society of the time, but it also becomes an anticipation of the consumer society of the 21st century to the rhythm of tango, fox-trot, cabaret and opera arias. Weill and Brecht thus earned the license of "degenerates" from the Nazi regime and, officially persecuted, emigrated to the United States
