In diesem Programm verbünden sich mit Anna Vinnitskaya und Joana Mallwitz zwei beeindruckende Künstlerinnen auf der Bühne der Isarphilharmonie. Mit ihrer lockeren, nahbaren Art steht JOANA MALLWITZ für eine neues Image der Dirgent*innen-Profession. Anna Vinnitskaya kann nicht nur pianistische Feuerwerke zünden, sondern versteht es auch, große Gemälde zu malen. Beides wird sie in Tschaikowskys berühmtem ersten Klavierkonzert ausspielen. Als Geschichtenerzähler ganz unterschiedlicher Art präsentieren sich jeweils Béla Bartók und Zoltán Kodály mit ihren Konzertsuiten. Während Kodály für die unglaublichen Abenteuer des ungarischen Lügenbarons Háry János gekonnt seine Liebe zur Volksmusik mit der Kunstmusik der Oper verschmilzt, wählt Bartók für seinen wunderbaren Mandarin einen anderen Ansatz. Nicht als Erbauung, sondern als ungeschöntes Abbild der Realität komponierte er die Musik für den »Mandarin« und sorgte damit für einen Skandal. Mit seiner kompromisslosen Tonsprache ist »Der wunderbare Mandarin« ein Meilenstein in der Musikgeschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts.

This programme unites two impressive artists on the stage at the Isarphilharmonie – pianist Anna Vinnitskaya and conductor Joana Mallwitz.

The relaxed, approachable Joana Mallwitz stands for a new image of the conducting profession. Anna Vinnitskaya knows both how to ignite fireworks and how to fashion expansive paintings on the piano. Tchaikovsky’s famous Piano Concerto No 1 presents her with an opportunity to demonstrate both of these skills.

 

With their concert suites, Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály both presented themselves as storytellers, albeit of very different kinds. For the incredible adventures of the Hungarian Liar Baron Háry János, Kodály skilfully fuses his love of folk music with the opera genre. Bartók, on the other hand, composed his music for the Mandarin not as edification, but as an unembellished reflection of reality, causing a scandal in the process. With its uncompromising tonal language, The Miraculous Mandarin is a milestone in 20th century music history.
