The choreographer Ambra Senatore and the conductor Jérôme Correas talk to us about "Café Libertà", their new show which will be created in March 2023. Café Libertà: interview with Ambra Senatore and Jérôme Correas (February 2023)

Un spectacle lyrique et chorégraphique autour des cantates du café de Jean-Sébastien Bach et Nicolas Bernier.
Rares sont les compositeurs tentés d’illustrer en musique le voyage sensoriel que procure le café, car le sujet semble frivole. Pourtant, Jean-Sébastien Bach, peu réputé pour son humour, en fait le personnage principal d’une cantate comique dans laquelle la jeune Lisette résiste au pouvoir paternel et trouve le courage grâce à sa boisson favorite - dont elle est totalement dépendante - de conquérir sa liberté, comme si la condition des femmes était liée à cette boisson magique qui rend plus audacieux...
De son côté le français Nicolas Bernier décrit l’inspiration poétique et la liberté virtuelle que procure la café, passeport vers les mondes parallèles de la création artistique. Fini le vin et ses lendemains difficiles, vive le café !
Avec la chorégraphe Ambra Senatore, Jérôme Correas et Les Paladins proposent au public une expérience scénique immersive et fantasque où l’arôme du café réunira de ses volutes sensuels le langage de la musique et des corps.
Affirmation de la liberté des femmes, source d’inspiration créatrice, lieu de convivialité et de solidarité (le café suspendu à Naples que l’on paye pour un prochain client désargenté), le café sera prétexte à des moments de jeu, de réflexion, d’observation de l’humain. Avec des espaces d’improvisation et d’autres moments plus écrits, la danse sera traversée par des états d’âme et teintée de gestes du quotidien. Elle entrera en résonance avec les musiques de Bach et Bernier, accompagnés de quelques invités surprises…

A lyrical and choreographic show around the coffee cantatas of Jean-Sébastien Bach and Nicolas Bernier.
Few composers are tempted to illustrate the sensory journey that coffee provides in music, because the subject seems frivolous. However, Jean-Sébastien Bach, little known for his humor, makes him the main character of a comic cantata in which the young Lisette resists paternal power and finds the courage thanks to her favorite drink - on which she is totally dependent - to conquer her freedom, as if the condition of women was linked to this magic drink that makes you more daring...
For his part, the Frenchman Nicolas Bernier describes the poetic inspiration and the virtual freedom provided by coffee, a passport to the parallel worlds of artistic creation. No more wine and its difficult aftermath, long live coffee!
With the choreographer Ambra Senatore, Jérôme Correas and Les Paladins offer the public an immersive and whimsical scenic experience where the aroma of coffee will unite with its sensual volutes the language of music and bodies.
Affirmation of women's freedom, source of creative inspiration, place of conviviality and solidarity (the hanging café in Naples that we pay for a next penniless customer), the café will be a pretext for moments of play, reflection, of human observation. With spaces for improvisation and other more written moments, the dance will be crossed by moods and tinged with everyday gestures. It will resonate with the music of Bach and Bernier, accompanied by a few surprise guests...
