La estupenda soprano valenciana Carmen Romeu, junto al pianista Albert Nieto, rinden tributo a Victoria de los Ángeles, una de las grandes voces españolas de siempre. «Callas fue la gran artista dramática y Victoria la cantante más completa. Fue mi principal ejemplo, bueno, fue un ejemplo para todos«. Así se refirió a ella nada menos que Teresa Berganza. En 2023, aprovechando al efeméride del centenario del nacimiento de Victoria de los Ángeles, Carmen Romeu interpretará un precioso repertorio salpicado de canciones de Schubert, Debussy, Puccini, Albéniz, Toldrà, Montsalvatge, Alicia de Larrocha, García Abril, Piazzola, Albert Guinovart, Ovalle, Moustaki, así como canciones populares.

El pianista Albert Nieto explica así el por qué de este homenaje: «Uno de los conciertos que más me ha impactado fue el que tuve la fortuna de presenciar en el Patio de los Arrayanes de la Alhambra, idílico enclave donde la voz de Victoria de los Ángeles penetró en el corazón de un joven pianista. Desde entonces, el recuerdo de las canciones de Fauré emanando de aquella voz sublime ha sido una constante en mi vida. Por tanto, sentía la necesidad de rememorar a Victoria de los Ángeles en el centenario de su nacimiento y de ensalzar su gran legado vocal tanto para los que tuvieron la suerte de escucharla en vivo como para los que no han tenido la oportunidad de quedar hechizados por su presencia escénica. Su magisterio musical fue indisociable de su bondadosa y humilde persona, que no quiso nunca ser protagonista ni recibir homenajes. Ahora quiero ofrecerle el mío como gratitud por aquel lejano concierto y por las incontables horas que he disfrutado de su voz«.
