O maestro Leonardo García Alarcón fundou o conjunto instrumental e vocal Cappella Mediterranea em 2005, interessado em pesquisar e aprofundar o envolvimento com a música barroca latina. A obra de Monteverdi tem, naturalmente, sido um dos pontos de maior atenção na atividade da Cappella Mediterranea. Apresentam no Grande Auditório, em colaboração com o Coro Gulbenkian, uma das criações mais inovadoras e majestosas do reportório barroco, as Vésperas. Numa espantosa exploração de vários registos corais, Monteverdi ergueu uma obra-prima apaixonada e envolvente.

Maestro Leonardo García Alarcón founded the instrumental and vocal ensemble Cappella Mediterranea in 2005, interested in researching and deepening his involvement with Latin baroque music. Monteverdi's work has, naturally, been one of the points of greatest attention in the activity of Cappella Mediterranea. In the Grand Auditorium, in collaboration with the Gulbenkian Choir, they present one of the most innovative and majestic creations of the Baroque repertoire, the Vespers . In an astonishing exploration of various choral registers, Monteverdi erected a passionate and engaging masterpiece.
