Antonín Dvořák's opera The Devil and Kate masterfully combines the musical worlds of folk dancing and folk singing with the Wagnerian method of signature motifs. The music of the composition is full of excitement and colour, and unique dynamic effects enhance its thrilling take-off. Fantastic and folk scenes are contrasted with extraordinary dramatic sensitivity. At the peak of his career, Dvořák composed this opera in a single stream of music, with almost no separate arias, duets or ensembles, and he emphasised the role of the orchestra with many spectacular dance numbers. An excellent example of that is the famous Inferno Dance.

V opere Čert a Káča sa Antonínovi Dvořákovi podarilo majstrovsky spojiť hudobné svety ľudového tanca a piesne s wagnerovskou metódou príznačných motívov. Hudba diela je plná vzruchu, farebnosti a jej strhujúci vzlet stupňujú jedinečné dynamické efekty. S mimoriadnym divadelným citom sú kontrastne charakterizované fantastické a ľudové scény. Dvořák počas vrcholného obdobia svojej tvorby komponoval túto operu v jednoliatom hudobnom prúde, takmer bez samostatných árií, dvojspevov a ansámblov, a vyzdvihol úlohu orchestra s množstvom efektných tanečných čísiel. Vynikajúcim príkladom toho je slávny Pekelný tanec.

In der Oper Die Teufelskäthe gelang es Antonín Dvořák meisterhaft die Musikwelt vom Volkstanz und -lied mit der Wagnerschen Leitmotiv-Methode zu vereinen. Die Musik des Werks ist voller Erregung, Buntheit und ihr fesselnder Aufschwung wird von einzigartigen dynamischen Effekten gradiert. Mit außergewöhnlichem Theatergespür werden fantastische Szenen sowie Volksszenen kontrastreich charakterisiert. Dvořák komponierte diese Oper am Höhepunkt seines Schaffens in einem einheitlichen Musikstil, fast ohne selbstständige Arien, Doppelstimmen und Ensembles und er hob mit zahlreichen effektvollen Tanznummern die Rolle des Orchesters hervor, wofür als wundervolles Beispiel der berühmte Teufelstanz dient.
