Christiane Eda-Pierre est née à Fort-de-France en Martinique le 24 mars 1932. Fille d'Alice Nardal, professeure de musique, et nièce de la femme de lettres Paulette Nardal, elle prend très tôt goût à la musique et au chant lyrique en particulier. Elle connaît de grands succès tant à l'Opéra-Comique qu'au Palais Garnier, où elle s'illustre dans Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti), Rigoletto, La Traviata (Verdi) et Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Offenbach), qui lui valent un triomphe en 1974 dans la mise en scène de Patrice Chéreau. En 1983, elle participe à la création de Saint-François d'Assise de Messiaen. Enseignante au Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris de 1977 à 1997, puis à la Schola Cantorum, elle laisse une trace indélébile dans le paysage français du chant lyrique. Elle fut l'une des plus grandes voix françaises de l'opéra. Le 6 septembre 2020, Christiane Eda-Pierre nous a quittés à l'âge de 88 ans.

Un voyage musical par les Voix des Outre-mer, entre concert et conférence, qui rend hommage à la première chanteuse lyrique noire française reconnue à l'international. Une soirée avec les plus grands airs d’opéras ayant fait la renommée de Christiane Eda-Pierre : Le nozze di Figaro, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Alcina, Lakmé, Il barbiere di Siviglia, La Clemenza di Tito… ponctuée par les moments forts de sa carrière de cantatrice.

Christiane Eda-Pierre was born in Fort-de-France in Martinique on March 24, 1932.
