Faithful to its customary festive date with its audience, the Athens State Orchestra welcomes 2022 with favourite melodies from operas and operettas, and accompanies acclaimed lyrical performers, under the baton of seasoned conductor Byron Fidetzis. From Romanticism, with the Overture of Weber’s The Free Shooter (“Der Freischütz”, which premiered in 1821) to Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, which flirts openly with jazz, this year’s gala will be –as always– an exquisite musical prelude to the new year!
