A romantic drama about the meeting of two different cultures, which was created in the silver age of operetta and with its libretto and music, exceeds the boundaries of its genre. The Land of Smiles depicts a love story set in the contrast of free-spirited Vienna and exotic and traditional China. The love of the European Liza and the Chinese prince Sou-Chong cannot overcome the differences in upbringing, ethics and overall outlook on life. Lehár's musical treatment of the Chinese theme brings exotically colored musical surfaces, in which you can feel the inspiration of the opera composer G. Puccini. The drama is full of operatic tragedy, pathos in sharp contrast with comic operetta performances.

The successful Berlin premiere took place in October 1929 at the Metropol theater and later celebrated success in Vienna in the performance of the stars of the time - Jarmila Novotná and Richard Tauber. The success of this operetta can be seen in a witty catchphrase told even during Franz Lehár's lifetime: " There are three "sung" stage genres - opera, operetta and Lehár. "

Together with the soloists, orchestra, choir and ballet of the Silesian Theater in Opava, children from the Opera-Musical Studio and the Ballet Studio of the Silesian Theater in Opava also perform.

Evžen Trupar will appear in the role of Ferdinand von Lichtenfels, the role of his daughter Líza will be played by Tereza Kavecká / Lucie Kašpárková, Martin Štolba / Roman Harok will appear as Gustav von Pottstein, Ivana Lebedová / Ludmila Štědrá as Hermína and Prince Sou-Chong will be sung by Juraj Nociar / Jakub Rousek. Romantické drama o setkání dvou rozdílných kultur, které vzniklo ve stříbrném věku operety a libretem a hudbou přesahuje hranice svého žánru. Země úsměvů zobrazuje příběh lásky zasazený do kontrastu svobodomyslné Vídně a exotické a tradiční Číny. Láska Evropanky Lízy a čínského prince Sou-Chonga nepřekoná rozdíly ve výchově, etice a celkovém pohledu na život. Lehárovo hudební zpracování čínského tématu přináší exoticky barevné hudební plochy, v nichž je cítit inspirace operním skladatelem G. Puccinim. Drama je plné operní tragiky, patosu v ostrém kontrastu s komickými operetními výstupy.

Úspěšná berlínská premiéra proběhla v říjnu roku 1929 v divadle Metropol a posléze slavila úspěch ve Vídni v provedení tehdejších hvězd – Jarmily Novotné a Richarda Taubera. O úspěchu této operety vypovídá už i za života Franze Lehára vyprávěný vtipný bonmot: „Existují tři „zpívané“ jevištní žánry – opera, opereta a Lehár.“

Spolu se sólisty, orchestrem, sborem a baletem Slezského divadla v Opavě účinkují i děti z Operně–muzikálového studia a Baletního studia Slezského divadla v Opavě.

V roli Ferdinanda von Lichtenfels se objeví Evžen Trupar, roli jeho dcery Lízy ztvární Tereza Kavecká / Lucie Kašpárková, Martin Štolba / Roman Harok se objeví jako Gustav von Pottstein, Ivana Lebedová / Ludmila Štědrá coby Hermína a Prince Sou-Chong zazpívá Juraj Nociar / Jakub Rousek.
