Senta's dreams are aimed at the sea: Does the man who frees her from the narrow life at home come from there? It begins with a storm, Wagner's first fully valid opera already paints a grandiose, overwhelming picture of the elements in the overture. The fate of the Flying Dutchman and the woman who is supposed to redeem him takes place in the roar of the waves and the ocean. This "romantic opera" wants to cross borders - between tradition and futuristic music, between land and sea, between convention and revolution. A gripping drama that tells the story of a young woman who doesn't want to submit, who puts everything on one card to exceed her limits, even if it costs her life, is well done.

Sentas Träume zielen aufs Meer: Kommt von dort der Mann, der sie aus dem engen Leben zu Hause befreit? Es beginnt stürmisch, Wagners erste vollgültige Oper malt schon in der Ouvertüre ein grandioses, überwältigendes Bild der Elemente. Das Schicksal des fliegenden Holländers und der Frau, die ihn erlösen soll, vollzieht sich im Brausen der Wellen und des Ozeans. Diese „romantische Oper“ will Grenzen überschreiten – zwischen Tradition und Zukunftsmusik, zwischen Land und Meer, zwischen Konvention und Revolution. Gelungen ist ein packendes Drama, das von einer jungen Frau erzählt, die sich nicht fügen will, die alles auf eine Karte setzt, um ihre Grenzen zu überschreiten, koste es auch das Leben.
