Theater Münster: Trailer DER MANN VON LA MANCHA

THE MAN OF LA MANCHA , based on Miguel de Cervantes (1547 - 1616) epic novel DON QUIXOTE, is a poignant musical that was one of the first works on Broadway to musically adapt a piece of historical literature. It is presented as a game within a game: We meet old Alonso Quijano, who thinks himself a noble knight, calls himself Don Quixote and pursues an obsessive search for an impossible dream. Despite all adversities, Quixote and his loyal squire Sancho Panza set out to find the good and innocent in a world full of darkness and despair. Mad Don Quixote may mistake a windmill for a giant and a tavern for a castle, but he proves that just the imagination can really make him a knight.

The musical THE MAN OF LA MANCHA , which premiered in 1965 , won five Tony Awards (including  Best Musical) and features rousing songs such as "Dulcinea" and the now famous standard "Quest" - better known as "The Impossible Dream".
