In 2007, the Dresden Semperoper went on tour in Japan for the first time in 26 years. They came bearing a gift from their home city: the Rosenkavalier. This performance is opulent and sumptuous in every respect, and on first glance, it gives rise to a sense of nostalgia. Look closer, though, and you will see that it is a thoroughly modern performance which reflects our contemporary age.
