The "Gypsy Baron" is still one of the most frequently performed Strauss operettas after "Fledermaus". Songs like "Yes, the writing and the reading" and "Borstenvieh und Schweinespeck" have long since become independent from the overall composition - with lively bars like these, Strauss was able to ridicule an outdated social hierarchy, bypassing the censorship, which allowed "upstarts" from the lower social classes made it harder. Musical direction is in the hands of Rudolf Bibl. Stage design and costumes by Rolf Langenfass and Georg Gesler is responsible for the choreography. Among others, Kammersänger Heinz Zednik, Peter Edelmann and Martina Serafin sing.
