Borghese anno 1610 zu Rom gewidmet hat. Alles, was die Musik seiner Zeit zur Verherrlichung der Gottesmutter aufzubieten hatte, vereinigte Monteverdi in dieser Vesper: prachtvolle Chöre, virtuose Solisten, brillante Instrumente, tief bewegende Klangrede und feierlichen Kontrapunkt.

An army of fantastic musicians with Maestro Savall under a baroque vault of heaven: the “Styrian St. Peter's Cathedral” in Pöllau is exactly the right room for the Marian Vespers, which Monteverdi dedicated to the baroque Pope Paul V. Borghese in Rome in 1610. Monteverdi combined everything that the music of his time had to offer to glorify the Mother of God in this vespers: magnificent choirs, virtuoso soloists, brilliant instruments, deeply moving sound speech and solemn counterpoint.
