DON PASQUALE... FOR EVERYONE!

Such indigestible confetti - Donizetti tells us that poor Don Pasquale - is better taken to the hospital. This malicious rhyme, published in the press after the premiere in Dresden in 1844, could not harm Gaetan Donizetti's excellent opera Don Pasquale - with the full approval and delight of the audience - in a triumphal march through the world's greatest opera stages. And such stars as Enrico Caruso, Marcelina Sembrich-Kochański or Arturo Toscanini made it a point of honor to prove themselves in this vocal and musical "game", in which acting could no longer rely solely on dramatic gestures, hysterical laments or more or less justified "madness" and dying in torment.

For the five main characters, Donizetti has created a work of sparkling, musical and vocal gems, where the action and relationships between the characters are as funny and brilliant as every note in Donizetti's masterful score. There is no time to get bored and smile; there are - a game of appearances, subtle wit and situational comedy. Don Pasquale

has visited our Theater many times - each time with the best casts, diverse stage visions and interpretations, and each of his appearances effectively entertained the audience, bringing them moments of relaxation and a sincere smile.

There is no doubt that this time too - also thanks to the excellent cast - it will be similar. And since each generation must have "its" Don Pasqual - let's take advantage of the opportunity!

Takie niestrawne konfetti – podaje nam Donizetti, że biednego Don Pasquala – lepiej zabrać do szpitala.Ten złośliwy wierszyk zamieszczony w prasie po premierze w Dreźnie w 1844 roku nie był w stanie zaszkodzić wyśmienitej operze Gaetana Donizettiego Don Pasquale – przy pełnej aprobacie i zachwycie publiczności – w triumfalnym marszu przez największe sceny operowe świata. A takie gwiazdy jak Enrico Caruso, Marcelina Sembrich-Kochański czy Arturo Toscanini za punkt honoru stawiały sobie sprawdzenie się w tej wokalno-muzycznej „zabawie”, w której i aktorstwo nie mogło już polegać wyłącznie na dramatycznych gestach, histerycznych lamentach czy mniej lub bardziej uzasadnionych „obłędach” i konaniu w mękach.

Dla pięciorga głównych bohaterów Donizetti stworzył pełne blasku, muzycznych i wokalnych perełek dzieło, w którym akcja sceniczna i relacje między postaciami są tak samo zabawne i błyskotliwe, co każda nuta w mistrzowskiej partyturze Donizettiego. Nie ma tu czasu na nudę i odpoczynek od uśmiechu; są – gra pozorów, subtelny dowcip i sytuacyjny komizm.

W naszym Teatrze Don Pasquale gościł wielokrotnie – za każdym razem w najlepszych obsadach, zróżnicowanych wizjach scenicznych i interpretacjach realizatorskich, a każde jego pojawienie się skutecznie bawiło Publiczność przynosząc jej chwile relaksu i szczerego uśmiechu.

Nie ma wątpliwości, że i tym razem – także za sprawą znakomitej obsady – będzie podobnie. A ponieważ każde pokolenie musi mieć „swojego” Don Pasquala – korzystajmy z okazji!
