"Oh, how wonderful all the lovely women are to look at," sings Caramello, personal barber and accomplice of the Duke of Urbino, at the Venice Carnival - and in the end all he wants is his Annina. His master, on the other hand, is so notorious as a womanizer that the old senators lock their young wives at home during the carnival as a precaution. Unless the duke has a lucrative position to fill: Then you bring out the ladies again, or look for one that you can present nicely as a wife. And in the end, all the escapades are simply ascribed to the carnival: "Everything is masked, where fun and madness and lust reigns!" already lost palazzo.
