Koncert wieńczący tegoroczną edycję festiwalu Wratislavia Cantans będzie spotkaniem ze sztuką wykonawczą wybitnego zespołu, jakim bez wątpienia jest Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks. Artyści wykonają dzieła trzech kompozytorów niemieckich epoki romantyzmu: Franza Schuberta, Petera Corneliusa i Johannesa Brahmsa.

Schubert przeszedł do historii przede wszystkim jako autor znakomitych cykli pieśni na głos solowy z orkiestrą, takich jak Piękna młynarka czy Podróż zimowa. Komponował jednak także pieśni na chór i fortepian. Podczas koncertu usłyszymy cztery z nich: Ständchen D. 920, Der Gondelfahrer D. 809, Nachthelle D. 892 oraz najbardziej rozbudowaną Mirjams Siegesgesang D. 942. Dzieła te z pewnością nie zawiodą wielbicieli twórczości tego kompozytora, można w nich bowiem odnaleźć elementy, które stanowią o wysokiej jakości wielu innych jego kompozycji, a mianowicie wyczucie dramaturgii i ogromny dar melodyczny.

Cornelius jest kompozytorem znacznie mniej popularnym niż Schubert i Brahms. Jego najbardziej znanym dziełem jest opera komiczna Cyrulik z Bagdadu. Podczas tego koncertu wykonawcy przypomną jednak surową i nieco mroczną pieśń na chór a cappella: Der Tod, das ist die kühle Nacht, pierwszą z Drei Chorgesänge op. 11.

Ascetycznym charakterem odznaczają się także dwie pieśni chóralne Brahmsa z op. 62: Dein Herzlein mild nr 4 oraz Waldesnacht nr 3. Koncert zakończy się wykonaniem utworów ze zbioru Zigeunerlieder (Pieśni cygańskie) op. 103. Kompozytor wykorzystał w nich węgierskie teksty ludowe, które przełożył na język niemiecki jego przyjaciel Hugo Conrat. Te lekkie i melodyjne dzieła należą do tego samego nurtu w twórczości Brahmsa co Tańce węgierskie, cieszą się też podobną do nich popularnością i są chętnie wykonywane przez zespoły chóralne.

The concert crowning this year's edition of the Wratislavia Cantans festival will be a meeting with the performance art of an outstanding ensemble, which is undoubtedly the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks. The artists will perform works by three German composers of the Romantic era: Franz Schubert, Peter Cornelius and Johannes Brahms.

Schubert went down in history primarily as the author of excellent song cycles for solo voice and orchestra, such as Beautiful Miller or Winter Journey . However, he also composed songs for choir and piano. During the concert, we will hear four of them: Ständchen D. 920, Der Gondelfahrer D. 809, Nachthelle D. 892 and the most developed Mirjams Siegesgesang D. 942. These works will certainly not disappoint fans of the composer's work, because in them you can find elements that they determine the high quality of many of his other compositions, namely his sense of drama and great melodic gift.

Cornelius is a much less popular composer than Schubert and Brahms. His most famous work is the comic opera The Barber of Baghdad . During this concert, however, the performers will recall a raw and somewhat dark song for a cappella choir: Der Tod, das ist die kühle Nacht , the first of Drei Chorgesänge op. 11.

Two choral songs by Brahms from Op. 62: Dein Herzlein mild No. 4 and Waldesnacht No. 3. The concert will end with a performance of works from the collection Zigeunerlieder ( Gypsy Songs ) op. 103. The composer used Hungarian folk texts, which were translated into German by his friend Hugo Conrat. These light and melodious works belong to the same trend in Brahms's oeuvre as Hungarian Dances , they also enjoy similar popularity and are willingly performed by choirs.
