Beethoven’s revolutionary third symphony – «Eroica» – features in the first Zuger Klassik Abo (subscription) concert. It is indeed a heroic work, and once that looks to the future. The evening will open with the illuminating overture to «Endymion», which highlights the incredible dramatic talent of Johann Christian (son of Johann Sebastian) Bach. Then with his «Variations on a Rococo» Theme, there is Tchaikovsky’s aural tribute to the soundscape of the 18th century and above all to his hero Mozart. This will be performed by Maximilian Hornung, one of the world’s most renowned cellists.

Beethovens revolutionäre 3. Sinfonie – die «Eroica» – steht auf dem Programm des ersten Zuger Klassik Abo Konzerts. Heldenhaft ist denn auch die Musik dieser zukunftsweisenden Sinfonie. Eröffnet wird das Konzert mit der strahlenden Ouvertüre zu «Endimione», aus der das ganze dramatische Talent des Bach-Sohns Johann Christian hervorscheint. Mit den eleganten Rokoko-Variationen wiederum schuf Tschaikowsky eine klingende Hommage an die Klangwelt des 18. Jahrhunderts – und allen voran an sein grosses Vorbild Mozart. Interpretiert wird das Werk von Maximilian Hornung, einem der weltweit begehrtesten Cellisten.
