If the famous musical duo Tim Rice - Andrew Lloyd Webber had not been interested in the life story of Eva Marie Duarte de Perón, born on May 7, 1919, this second wife of Argentine President Juan Perón would probably have been known only to Latin American historians. Her charisma, which helped her from the poor countryside to the post of first lady of the country and elevated her to a modern icon, was transferred to the world-famous musical. Since its premiere in the West End in London in 1978, it has gained worldwide popularity and has also received a film with pop icon Madonna and Antonio Banderas in the lead roles. After the Velvet Revolution, he also became domesticated on the domestic scene, mainly thanks to an excellent translation by Michael Prostějovský.

Kdyby slavnou autorskou muzikálovou dvojici Tim Rice - Andrew Lloyd Webber nezaujal životní příběh Evy Marie Duarte de Perón, narozené 7. května 1919, patrně by tato druhá manželka argentinského prezidenta Juana Peróna byla známá jen historikům Latinské Ameriky. Její charizma, které jí dopomohlo z chudého venkova na post první dámy země a povýšilo ji na novodobou ikonu, se přeneslo i do světoznámého muzikálu. Ten od premiéry v londýnském West Endu v roce 1978 získal celosvětovou oblibu a dočkal se i filmové podoby s popovou ikonou Madonou a Antoniem Banderasem v hlavních rolích. Po sametové revoluci zdomácněl i na tuzemských scénách, zejména díky znamenitému překladu Michaela Prostějovského.
