Composed by Mozart in 1773, when he was in Milan, for the castrato Venanzio Rauzzini, the first appreciated interpreter of the role of Cecilio in his opera Lucio Silla , the motet Exultate Jubilate KV 165it is distinguished by a more profane than ecclesiastical writing as its destination would like. The motet, which was performed, in fact, for the first time at the Convent of the Theatines of the Lombard city on January 17, 1773, does not actually have any reference to the feast of St. Anthony the Abbot which occurs on that very day, but appears, because of the generic character of his text, like a piece that can be performed at any time and in any place. For this reason this work became a real piece of trunk for Rauzzini, on whose vocality, which was exalted in the coloratura song and in the intonation of wide intervals, was, moreover, sewn on by Mozart. From the formal point of view, the motet, consisting of two arias interspersed with a dry recitative and followed by the Alleluja, once the recitative is removed, it seems to take on the characteristics of a concerto for voice and orchestra in three movements, of which the first Exultate, jubilate is a sparkling aria that stands out for its agile writing and for its wide interval jumps. The short dry recitative Fulget amica dies introduces the second aria, Tu virginum corona , a very sweet and delicate page, formally close to the rondo-sonata, in which the voice is accompanied by violins and viola, while the concluding Alleluja with its agility and with an acute C it is the most famous part of the motet, so much so that it is often performed alone.

Composto da Mozart nel 1773, quando si trovava a Milano, per il castrato Venanzio Rauzzini, primo apprezzato interprete del ruolo di Cecilio nella sua opera Lucio Silla, il  mottetto Exultate Jubilate KV 165 si distingue per una scrittura più profana che chiesastica come vorrebbe la sua destinazione. Il mottetto, che fu eseguito, infatti, per la prima volta presso il Convento dei Teatini della città lombarda il 17 gennaio 1773, in realtà non presenta alcun riferimento alla festa di S. Antonio Abate che ricorre proprio quel giorno, ma si presenta, a causa del carattere generico del suo testo, come un brano che si può eseguire in ogni tempo e in ogni luogo. Per tale ragione questo lavoro divenne un vero e proprio pezzo di baule per Rauzzini, sulla cui vocalità, che si esaltava nel canto di coloratura e nell'intonazione di ampi intervalli, fu, del resto, cucito addosso da Mozart. Dal punto di vista formale il mottetto, costituito da due arie inframmezzate da un recitativo secco e seguite dall'Alleluja, tolto il recitativo, sembra assumere le caratteristiche di un concerto per voce e orchestra in tre movimenti, dei quali il primo Exultate, jubilate è una spumeggiante aria che si distingue per una scrittura intrisa di agilità e per gli ampi salti intervallari. Il breve recitativo secco Fulget amica dies introduce la seconda aria, Tu virginum corona, una dolcissima e delicatissima pagina, formalmente vicina al rondò-sonata,  nella quale la voce è accompagnata dai violini e dalla viola, mentre il conclusivo Alleluja con le sue agilità e con un do acuto costituisce la parte più famosa del mottetto, tanto che viene eseguito spesso da solo.
