Without having the means, Sir John Falstaff leads the life of a great lord at the inn of the Garter. But the bill gets longer and, to pay his debts, the knight thinks it clever to seduce two rich bourgeois. He sends them a love letter too ridiculous than inflamed but its potential victims are quick to discover the deception and decide to take revenge. It's the sprinkler sprinkled: Falstaff makes a fool of himself by falling into all the traps that he tend these women much more cunning than him and who, more, will arrange to facilitate the union of two young lovers whom a tyrannical father tries to to separate.

The intuition of dramaturgy came to me after a performance of Cyrano de Bergerac at the Comédie-Française. I was looking for for a long time already how to present a new production of Falstaff . All of a sudden I had a flash: “Edmond Rostand, Chantecler . I will do Falstaff as Rostand did Chantecler . ". Chantecler is a play that takes place in a backyard. That's where the idea came from. One of the reasons why I couldn't find the way to do Falstaff it's because I found the stuffing very cruel: an old, fat man, whose whole world laughs. By offering to do Falstaff like a fable by La Fontaine with animals – really animals – it allowed to present it to the public with the prism of the fable, to put a little distance the cruelty of the situation while making closer to us the characters, which is the role of the fable.
