As Clov points out from his first appearance: the show hasn't started yet it's already over. At 90 years old, György Kurtág delivers his first opera and takes for subject the eponymous work of Samuel Beckett created in 1957. Centerpiece of a theater which has redefined itself after the Second World War, it presents a post ‑ apocalyptic world and four characters whose relationships have deteriorated to the most extreme: an old paraplegic, his disabled servant and his parents who live in garbage cans. To accompany these absurd figures, shadows of themselves, the director Pierre Audi only adds a house to the set. In this no man's land, resonate the dark and deep accents of the orchestra, the fifth character of the opera, serving a score as rich as life on stage seems meaningless.
