When the New Bachisches Collegium Musicum celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2019, the wish was expressed to hear the excellent ensemble regularly again in the Gewandhaus. The inspiring partner for the new NBCM concert series is Reinhard Goebel, who shaped baroque formations such as Musica Antiqua Köln and the Berliner Barock Solisten. At joint concerts in June 2020, we were able to admire the joy of playing, wit and elegance with which the members of the Gewandhaus Orchestra follow Goebel’s lively interpretations based on historical knowledge. The NBCM and Goebel share a boundless joy of discovery and experimentation, as well as a penchant for unusual, evocatively combined programs - such as the sounding dance compendium at the start of the four-part series.

Als das Neue Bachische Collegium Musicum 2019 sein 40-jahriges Bestehen feierte, wurde der Wunsch laut, das vorzügliche Ensemble wieder regelmäßig im Gewandhaus zu hören. Inspirierender Partner für die neue Konzertreihe des NBCM ist Reinhard Goebel, der Barockformationen wie Musica Antiqua Köln und die Berliner Barock Solisten prägte. Mit wie viel Spielfreude, Witz und Eleganz die Mitglieder des Gewandhausorchesters Goebels lebendigen, auf historischer Kenntnis gründenden Interpretationen folgen, konnten wir bei gemeinsamen Konzerten im Juni 2020 bestaunen. Das NBCM und Goebel verbindet grenzenlose Entdecker- und Experimentierfreude sowie die Vorliebe für ausgefallene, beziehungsreich kombinierte Programme – etwa das tönende Tanzkompendium zum Auftakt der vierteiligen Reihe.
