The satirical opera-buffa by Giacomo Puccini "Gianni Schicchi" was completed by the composer in 1918, its action takes place in 1299 in Florence. The old rich man Buozo, dying, wants to bequeath everything to the monastery.

The heirs want to trick the property by summoning Gianni Schicchi, whose daughter Lauretta is engaged to the nephew of a rich man, as accomplices. Taking the form of the deceased, the rogue Schicchi forges the will in his favor and blesses the daughter for marriage.
