Danze italiani , conducted by its concertmaster Giovanni Guzzo, puts the Camerata Salzburg at the center of their concert. It begins with Ottorino Respighi's Antiche danze ed arie per liuto, brilliant orchestrations of dances from 16th-century lute tablatures, before the star flutist Ana de la Vega takes on Saverio Mercadante's 6th flute concerto and Giulio Briccialdi's highly virtuoso Carnevale di Venezia . Peter Warlock's transcriptions of Italian Renaissance dances close with a saltarello, a jumping dance that Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy also integrated into the finale of his 4th symphony, the popular  "Italian" after he had witnessed the Roman carnival.
