They’re two thousand years old and yet still inspiring: Ovid’s Metamorphoses. And they serve as the inspiration for the programme of this concert, which is all about transformation and mutability. Ovid’s Acis and Galatea, set to music by G. F. Handel, is at the heart of this matinee. The work lets the audience experience Acis transforming into a bubbling spring. But transformation is on this morning’s programme not just in a magical sense but also in a religious one.

Barucco returns to Melk as a much-loved guest. In addition, the Melk audience will be treated to an exciting premiere with the first Austrian performance by the newly founded ensemble Barucco Vokal.
