Hansel and Gretel get lost in the forest. They meet a wicked witch, but in the end it is not the children who end up in the oven, but the witch herself. Humperdinck finds exactly the right tone for this fairy tale, ranging from folk songs to the mysteriously sparkling musical language of the late Romantic era - an ideal template for the magical imagery of the video artist Judith Zelenko.
