Of the twelve operettas of Gejz Dusík, Hrnčiarsky bál is a qualitative highlight. The theme is set in the revolutionary years 1848-1849, which are in Slovak history associated with the national Štúrovce movement. The story takes place in the environment of Slovak potters in Záhorie. The operetta is compositionally reworked and interwoven with Slovak folklore. It premiered on the stage of the Košice State Theater in 1956 and later it was performed in almost all Slovak theaters, including abroad. Today, this work belongs to the golden fund of Slovak operetta.
