The opera "Lithuanians" by the famous Italian composer A. Ponchielli was composed according to A. Mickevičius' poem "Konrad Valenrod", its premiere in 1874. took place at Milan’s famous La Scala Theater. The work, which tells about the Lithuanian heroism during the wars with the Crusaders, was extremely successful and became a symbol of the Italian struggles for freedom!

The Lithuanian Opera Lietuvius was planned to be built in 1939. Unfortunately, the Second World War and the tragedy of Lithuania prevented the prime ministers of the opera. Lithuanians first built Lietuvius in 1981. In the Lithuanian Opera of Chicago, based on a well-translated and edited libretto by Stasys Santvaras. The staging of this opera became a special event in Chicago in 1991, when the Lithuanian Opera of Chicago, together with the LNOBT, was able to present the history of Lithuania to the whole world for the first time. An impressive commemorative production was created in 2009. In Trakai Castle, commemorating the 1000th anniversary of the name of Lithuania (conductor R. Šervenikas, director J. Jurašas, painters M. Navakas and A. Jacovskytė, light painter D. Malinauskas). The premiere of this concert opera, sung in Lithuanian, took place in 2020. July 6 In the courtyard of the Palace of the Rulers. The event is dedicated to the State Day celebration - the historical coronation day of King Mindaugas of Lithuania.
